Battlefield Press presents Kaisers Gate. This alternate history, genre-blending setting for the Savage Worlds game system presents a fantastic take on World War One - combining the gritty battlefields of the Great War with elements of magical fantasy and horror.

* Sorcerers of the German Imperial Army - fueled by the magic of red dragons - bulldoze Allied defenses and push deep into France.
* Heroic griffin riders of the French Air Service fight to free their nation from the daily terror of zeppelin bombing raids
* British golems squads fight alongside tanks to turn the tide of battle against the Central Powers
* In the darkest days of the war, in desperation, the Kaiser makes a Faustian bargain that unleashes an invasion of legions of creatures from Faerie onto the European continent.

In this book you will find new edges, hindrances, and combat maneuvers, new monsters and stats for tons of weapons and vehicles. The big feature, rules-wise, is the magic system, which not only removes power points, but provides a wide range of roleplaying themes for caster characters, with examples of dozens of magical schools and guidelines for creating your own.

Beautifully written for the Savage Worlds game engine by the masters of story telling - Mike Lafferty and Bryana Hitchcock.

PURCHASER
I have a question. This setting is available in hardback book, and PDF forms here, but a number of other places have listed a softcover version of this product, and a "Limited Edition" hardcover version as well. What is the difference between the PDF, Hardcover (non-limited edition), Hardcover (Limited Edition), and softcover (which is somehow not print-on-demand, like the non-limited hardcover apparently is? I now possess the PDF, but I am curious about this, and about what version(s) of the book might be best to go for.

This is likely not of much importance, but if the softcover version is meant to be print-on-demand as well, it should be listed here.

PUBLISHER
Limited Edition had a different cover (and a couple of minor things that were different) and went out only to backers of the Kickstarter. The softcover is available via our distribution channels and is 7x10, we have not uploaded those files here. This hardcover is 8.5 x 11, to match the original size of the SWD. There may be a point where we upload the softcover here, but not sure when that will be.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
