Are you an aspiring actor? Would you like to learn more about all the professions involved with theatrical productions?  If so, this is the class for YOU!

Theater Arts is a dynamic and interactive course!  Students will study acting, directing and producing, as well as technical theater.  Each weekly class session will include discussions of concepts learned, oral interpretations, hands-on homework assignments/enrichment activities and working techniques.  Optional Assessment suggestions are included, as well as a Certificate of Student Achievement, upon completion of the course.  Come and join us as we learn about ALL aspects in the world of the Dramatic Arts! (Minimum 3 students for class to be offered.)

Scope and Sequence of Theater Arts:

Week 1 – Orientation to Theater Arts and the History of Theater/Vocabulary

Week 2 - Voice and Inflections/ Class Participation Orally/Vocabulary

Week 3 – Oral interpretations of Antigone/Types of Historical Theaters/Vocabulary

Week 4 – Review Student Narratives (homework) orally, Lighting/Stage Crafts/Vocabulary

Week 5 – Oral Presentations of Monologues written by Students (homework)/Sub-texting Dialogue/ Stage Movements/Vocabulary

Week 6 – Student Summaries Orally of Tartuffe (homework)/Genre/Plot Analysis/Vocabulary

Week 7 – Oral Open Dialogue Presentations (homework)/Set Designs/Vocabulary

Week 8 – Character Biography Assignments/Acting Styles/Analyzing Scripts/Vocabulary

Week 9 – Productions/Anton Chekhov Presentations (homework)/Vocabulary

Week 10 – Technical Theater Production/Theatrical Makeup/Props for the play “Fourteen” (homework)/Vocabulary

Week 11 – Oral Readings with accents/inflections/ Oral Report on Playwright Samuel Beckett (homework)/ Interpretations of the assigned excerpt from the play, “Godot”/Vocabulary

 Week 12 – Professions in Theater/Finish Final Semester Presentations

 

 

 

About the teacher:

Kathy Roberson is a certified teacher with over 10 years of experience in teaching children of all ages in the Online setting.  She holds a B.A. in Art Education, Specialist Degree and is also licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education to teach grades Kindergarten - High School in any subject area.  Theater Arts is is one of her Specialty Courses.

  • Withdrawal before 2nd session: Full refund of class fee
  • Withdrawal after 2nd session, but before 3rd session: Refund of 2/3rds class fee
  • Withdrawal after 3rd session, but before 4th session: Refund of 1/3rd class fee
  • Withdrawal after 4th session: No refund

All hybrid classes will be fully refunded if the withdrawal request is submitted before the kick-off session. If the withdrawal request is made within 24 hours of the kick-off session, the class will be refunded at 75%. If the withdrawal request is made more than 24 hours after kick-off session, no refund is available for that class.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
