Until the 19th century, people did not know much about the animal bones that resembled “big lizards.”  As scientists began discovering more bones of these large animals, they agreed that they were the skeletons of a special group of animals that they named dinosaurs.  Your student can complete a lapbook on these prehistoric creatures with the Dinosaurs Project Pack from In the Hands of a Child.  This 70-page Project Pack includes a 12-page Research Guide and 20 hands-on activities for your student to complete to answer the following questions:
     ·         What were the dinosaurs?
·         What might the dinosaurs have looked like?
·         How did the dinosaurs move?
·         Where did the dinosaurs live?
·         What did the dinosaurs eat?
·         How did the dinosaurs reproduce?
·         How did the dinosaurs protect themselves from attack?
·         What happened to the dinosaurs?
·         Who studies dinosaurs?
·         What tools are used to study dinosaur fossils?

Our son LOVES dinosaurs! Not too amazing considering he's a 9 yr old boy, right? Wrong! He also has autism. When he was 2 until he was 4 or 5, he drove us nuts about horses! He must have had the largest collection of John Wayne movies for a 4 yr old in [...]

My small homeschool group of kindlers/first graders really did love all the information but I think the age group should be 2nd grade and up, it is a little complex for the younger ones, my helper and I ended up doing most of the cutting and had to be [...]

I love this project pack! I wish I had this project pack when my kids were younger! We went through a SERIOUS dinosaur phase in this house. A few years ago, it was all dinosaurs, all the time. However one of my main issues with the books and study guid [...]

This was the first lapbook I had completed with my children (8 and 6), I think they enjoyed the construction process but I am not sure they learnt very much from it, their minds being far more occupied with cutting and folding correctly, than the actua [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
