1. What is Life n' Leadership?

Life n' Leadership is a self-study program/curriculum designed to help students: 1) increase their understanding of themselves and their abilities, and 2) develop the ability to successfully interact with people. The curriculum itself consists of a workbook and audio files, which should to be used together.

2. What is a "self-study" program?

A self-study program—which could also be described as a “home-study” program/curriculum—is an educational curriculum designed to be completed by a student without the direct aid of an external educator or instructor. In short, it is a curriculum which can be completed solely by the student. As such, it is “self-paced,” though it is advisable to be completed over the course of a single semester.

3. What age group is Life n' Leadership intended for?

Although Life n' Leadership may be beneficial to adults, it has been specifically designed for young adult and high-school age students. Students which are younger than this may benefit from the curriculum as well, but they may not fully understand some of the lessons.

4. How long should it take a student to complete Life n' Leadership?

Students can complete Life n' Leadership over the course of a full semester, studying one lesson per week for twelve consecutive weeks. Alternatively, they can choose to complete it at their own pace. In addition, the curriculum has been designed in such a way that it can easily be completed multiple times, which many students find to be of great benefit.

5. Does Life n' Leadership represent a Christian worldview?

Yes. All lessons are taught in alignment with Christian values and principles.

6. Who is Ken Parsell?

Ken Parsell is the developer of Life n 'Leadership. He is a writer, teacher, and philomath, best known for his highly interactive and discussion oriented teaching style. Student - Grade 12

In the autumn of 2006 Ken Parsell began teaching a class called “Leadership & Life Skills” to a small group of students in Michigan. His goal was to develop a class that would “help students live a good life.” That class, which would eventually develop into what is now known as “Life n' Leadership,” was an immediate success. “I can't think of a single student that didn't seem to thoroughly enjoy it,” said Ken Parsell. “The whole thing was a big eye-opener. Students were actually interested and excited about learning, especially since they were personally benefiting from the information.”

Over the years the class changed a lot. Early teaching methods and approaches were replaced with better ones. New content was developed, tested, and refined. Eventually, Ken came up with the idea to develop the class into a “self-study” program. “What if students from all over the country could have access to the information available in these classes?” “What if we could develop a home-study course that was fast-paced enough to not be boring or intimidating?” “How big of a difference could we make?” That idea has now become a reality.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
