During this 8-week unit, students will begin to grasp the political issues that led up to and contributed to the Civil War, understand the implications of slavery on the United States at that time, develop a biblical apologetic for slavery and equality, visualize an overview of the War and critical battles and locations, know the names and important details about persons crucial to the War, understand the implications of a nation divided and the reconstruction of the same and appreciate the role of Abraham Lincoln during this time period. The unit is purposefully focused on history, though the language arts skills of penmanship, vocabulary and creative writing will be covered as well. Reproducible worksheets are included.
