Joymarie’s 26 character poems contain one Christian character trait in poetry form for each letter of the alphabet, 4 lines per poem. Each of the 26 character poems wisely teaches the moral basis and practical application of each character trait in the context of everyday life.

Each poem is accompanied by a matching Bible verse for students to copy as well. Every page is graced by a large, fancy decorated letter reminiscent of “illuminated” Bibles of the Middle Ages. At the end of the character poems (A-Z) is a word search puzzle, followed by 14 pages of New Testament verses that form the foundation of Christian character. Each verse is accompanied by a stained-glass style bookmark to color (more than 14 bookmarks in all), with a colorful Bible memorization page and a crossword puzzle at the very end.

We also have a character-building manuscript penmanship practice book for the early grades called A-Z Kind Kids Care. Now you can buy the two books together as a bundled set: A-Z Character Series 2-Book Bundle.

The professional handwriting font set used in our penmanship books is used by public schools across the U.S.  This book is reproducible for all students living in the same home as the book’s owner.

Please note:
The verses in this book are taken from the New American Standard Bible (NASB).
This book is also available with the same verses taken from the King James (Authorized) Version (KJV). Also available is a KJV edition of the A-Z Character Bundle.

A Celebration of Christian Character is a nice copywork set for grades 4-9. They are in cursive and has small primary lines for writing. The first 26 pages are copywork in alphabetical form of Christian virtues. A is for Alertness; B is for Benevolenc [...]

This has been a good follow-up product for the other handwriting books we've used from LightHome. I really appreciated the character emphasis and the Bible verses. I don't think my son liked it quite as much as the animal and geography products, but he [...]

I love the content of this e-book. The illustrations are beautiful, the copywork is well written, and I appreciate the Bible memory verses as well. However, my daughter felt that the lines were too narrow for her to comfortably use. It would be very he [...]

I love the vintage look. The book contains a short poem, followed by a scripture verse the relates to the poem. The beautiful poems are written by Joy Marie Dunlap, so you know your children are reading wholesome poetry. Every poem starts with a letter [...]

I really like this title! The child can learn 26 easy poems to help them learn the meaning of some new vocabulary as well as a Bible verse that relates the same thoughts. Each page is just begging to be colored in, too, so you can work a little art cla [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
