If you are looking for something meaningful you can do as a family to prepare for Easter, take a look at this e-book written by a homeschool graduate for homeschool families!
Designed for Easter week (Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday), Jesus--The Life-Giver offers something for everyone. The readings themselves are written simply enough for children to grasp, yet contain plenty of application and thought-provoking questions for parents too. While they listen, children make their own flower gardens! Every day, children decorate and add a flower to their “garden.” The flower is coordinated with the devotional to help reinforce the message. On the first day, children glue their flower to a black backing to remind them that we cannot make our hearts acceptable in God’s sight. The flower the children decorate has a small snowflake in the center to remind them that, although we cannot change ourselves, God had a plan to bring us life—to make us righteous in His sight. It's simple! The e-book gives you patterns and instructions for easily making the gardens out of predominately household supplies. The only additional items besides scissors, coloring utensils, and glue you will need are a container (flower pot, bowl, or basket), Popsicle sticks to hold the flowers in the container, various colored cardstock paper to print out the flowers on/back them, and dry beans or Styrofoam to hold the flowers inside the container. An easy-to-use, meaningful way for the entire family to prepare for Easter! See sample page HERE. What Others Have Said... "Katherine Loop designed a pre-Easter study, Jesus: The Life Giver, that is absolutely wonderful! What I loved most is that it wasn’t a study of Passion Week, but a look at the heart of the One who is passionate for our hearts." - Deborah Lembach. Read more on the As We Walk blog. Picture above shows the flower garden they made using the instructions in the e-book. "This is a wonderful product! It can be used for simple or in-depth conversations, depending upon the length of time you may have and the ages of your children. Our kids, ages 4 - 12, enjoyed it very much; my husband and I did too. Also, our boys liked designing their own flowers just as much as our girls. Each day we had great discussions, and we saved the flowers for a month or more! This was our best Easter week ever thanks to 'The Life-Giver.'" - Stephanie Woole "I firmly believe that we owe our young children meat when we teach them about God. Katherine Loop obviously believes this as well, for although this is a devotional for children that includes a craft activity meant for elementary school age children, it presents deep ideas that adults would do well to meditate on. That’s the beauty of this little study that takes us through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It truly is a multi-age devotional offering insights through different means that are age appropriate." - From a review by Beverly Krueger. Visit Eclectic Homeschool Online to view the rest!
