Space, a wide open, never-ending collection of places and things that we are just beginning to explore! This unit study will help your children begin to see just how vast the universe it and how amazing God's creations are. From studying the early astronomers to the men and women who have traveled into space, learning about our solar system and galaxies, and so much more -- the study of space opens up a child's world as well as their imagination and curiosity about everything that is in the night sky.
This unit study is brand new and one of the most amazing studies that I've worked on to date. Having spent many years of my life in Florida around the Kennedy Space Center, I met some of the most amazing people involved in the space program - astronauts, astronomers, scientists, dreamers and idea people that all work together to help develop an understanding what is "out there." Their efforts have helped develop all kinds of ways for us to learn about the universe, and now this unit study helps to bring it all together for the benefit of our children. We will study telescopes, remote telescopes in space (the Hubble Space Telescope), satellites that circle the Earth, probes that travel to the outer reaches of our solar system and beyond, orbiting observatories (the International Space Station), as well as space travel past present and future. Please join us as we begin our adventure into space - learning about planets, stars, moons, meteors, constellations, galaxies, black holes and so much more! The Space Unit study contains 20 days of lesson plans for two levels, Lower Level (elementary) and Upper Level (Jr/Sr High). The study also includes many online resources, book suggestions, project ideas, and much more. A fascinating learning adventure for everyone!
