Teachers and Homeschool parents love our high-interest, hands-on curriculum including Lapbook Project Packs, Notebooking Packs and Thematic Unit Study Packs. With this unit study you will be able to teach your elementary grade classroom about snakes. There are almost 3,000 different types of snakes in the world and they are found everywhere except in really cold climates. With the Snake Curriculum from In the Hands of a Child, students can learn about these fascinating, and sometimes fearsome, reptiles. Make your lesson planning easy with the 7-day Planning Guide, Related Reading List, 16 Hands-On Activities PLUS 1 Fun Extension Activity, and 9-page Research Guide. Students will investigate how snakes move, diet, predators, habitat, life cycle, defense, deadly and helpful snakes, conservation, and more.

What is a Note Pack?

With our Note Packs your students are able to enjoy the same Research Guide and activities as our Lapbook products without the cutting and pasting. We provide students with fun, educational notebooking pages for them to answer all their activities into. These can be simply 3-hole punched and added to any binder.

These are perfect for older students who like to add more research and information into their studies.

Perfect for family studies when all the kids want to work together on one project yet make it their own.

What's Included?

Each unit starts with a Table of Contents and is followed by a Planning Guide. We've taken all the guesswork and prep work out of our products, they are mom and teacher friendly. We recommend vocabulary words, guided reading, and activities to complete each day, follow our plan or create your own.

Next, you will find a Research Guide. The Research Guide contains all of the lessons needed to complete the activities laid out in a chapter-like format. This format helps to build students' listening, reading, and comprehension skills. Included in the Research Guide is a Bibliography, which also makes a great resource for finding information for any rabbit trails you may choose to follow during your study. Related books and websites are included in the Research Guide.

Next, you will find a list of core concepts to be covered during the study, each of the concepts is represented by notebooking graphic specific to the question. Each graphic organizer or template helps students take bite-sized pieces of information learned in the Research Guide to complete a hands-on activity to help retain that information. If you implement graded assignments in your curriculum, the list of concepts will be essential for you, the parent/teacher, to know what to test the student on.

Reproducible notebooking pages follow. You will want to make a copy of each graphic for each student completing the unit.

At the end you will find a complete answer key, just reinforcing our easy to use format.

Project Packs from In the Hands of a Child make great stand-alone unit studies or can easily be added as a supplement to an existing curriculum. When using as a stand-alone product, we recommend completing 2 - 3 activities per session (30 - 45 minutes). Start by reading through 2 - 3 sections of the Research Guide and then complete the corresponding hands-on activities. The hands-on activities correlate to each section in the Research Guide.
