We are only using the journal portion because lapbooking is not of interest to my student. We both like that she can type her answers directly into the pdf document rather than needing to hand write all of her answers. This was the main purpose in purchasing this edition and I think would be a bonus for the child that struggles with the physical aspect of writing (poor handwriting, hand easily tires, dysgraphia, etc.).
So far it seems to be working very well. The only two issues we have at this point are that:
- It would have been nice if the form for Experiment 1.1 (classification of plants and animals using the biological key) had been set up as a table like it is provided in the answer in the book. We used a word processor to do the table, which worked fine, but I would prefer to have been able to do this in the Journal.
- We didn't find a place in the Journal to type definitions, which are a big part of Apologia Biology. I don't know if there is a lapbook component that covers this information or not. Since we are not using the lapbook portion I have not looked for definitions in that section.
