This is a "Live" book club that will begin by discussing the first  book in Suzanne Collins' series, The Hunger Games.  Students will logon to the connect pro website and participate in a live online discussion about the book.  We will discuss some of the new characters introduced as well as the various literary devices used throughout the story.  The students will be communicating in real time via microphone headset(recommended) or chat box.  They will be interacting with other homeschoolers around the world.  This is a wonderful way to make international friends that share the same appreciation for this fantastic science fiction series.

Students should have the following chapters read before each class session:

March 6 chapters 1-6

March 13- chapters 7-12

March 20- chapters 13-20

March 27 -  chapters 21-27


Whether this is your child's first time reading this book or their tenth, they will find new ways of discussing the book and the exciting events within.  This is a great opportunity for the fantasy reader in your family.

This class will use the CurrClickLive Virtual Classroom. Computer microphone and headset and a high-speed internet connection are required. Instructions for using the virtual classroom will be sent out to all students before the first class. About the Teacher:  My name is Toni Williams and I am the creator of Essay Writing Workshop.   I became interested in Currclick after I tutored the dyslexic daughter of one of my homeschooling mothers.  I found that I had a lot to offer parents that may struggle with reading and writing difficulties that their children may be having.  This experience gave me new insight to the world of homeschooling and the unique benefit it has to a child. 

I have worked as an elementary school teacher, curriculum designer, college instructor and independent tutor.   I have a bachelor's degree in education from the University of South Florida and a master's degree in language arts from San Diego State University. 

I applaud the families that are actively taking on the responsibility of their child's education.  I hope to be part of their continued journey towards excellence.
