Publisher: Eagles Wings Educational Materials

This is the student workbook for the Amazing American States and Capitals book (sold seperately). The Amazing American States and Capitals book has two full colored games:

To State it Simply It’s a Capital Game

The State Region Game

The first game has 50 cartoons with clever puns to teach each state and capital. No longer do you have to rely on rote memory for this seemly endless list of states and capitals. The ingenious Clever Comics Memory System is a mnemonic system which utilizes visual images along with easy-to-recall mental cues making learning easy, quick and long term. Because this system taps into many areas of the brain, it is a must for Visual-Spatial learners.

The second game is a card game where players collect all the states in a given region.

While each area is being studied, this workbook has activities that reinforce and expand what is learned.

The Amazing American States and Capitals Workbook includes:

I Can Name that State and Capital Game

Spelling Counts

Spelling Tests on Capitals and States

Crossword Puzzles

Capital and State Bingo

Creative Writing of Silly Stories

These pages can be made into a booklet with a cover of the map containing all the cartoons. All of this makes for enjoyable and highly successful learning. The skills developed here can be used for learning lists or to spell problem words in other subjects.

Also available is the Amazing American States and Capitals Coloring Book (sold separately), which has a full coloring page for each state.

Publisher: A Godly Legacy Publishing

"Every habit you form is one stone laid in your character." is the first in a series of Coloring, Copywork, History, Character and Art Books series based on James Alexander's letters to his younger brother.

Jame Alexander wrote a series of beautifully encouraging letters to his younger brother on varied subjects. We will take these letters, dig in and savor them through reading, writing and artwork. We pray that your children will be encouraged in godliness by this humble and wise man.

About this booklet:

<dir>

The coloring and artwork pages: In the coloring page the students may work with whichever medium you deem best, be it crayon, marker, paint. They are to choose the colors they feel express the image and text best. For younger boys, they may simply color. On the artwork page, have your son practice the skill of drawing using a grid. This method is quite helpful in seeing that images are made up of simple lines and curves and can lessen the "fear of drawing" for some. As the student takes one square of the grid at a time drawing only what is in that portion; it is encouraging to see the whole of the image come together! For advanced students, they may then add shading and color, or draw and paint a copy of their favorite picture in a sketch pad or on canvas.

The copywork pages are designed to be used with both younger and older boys and to highlight a key phrase in the text of the letter. If you are using this with an older student, he may copy the phrase in a notebook or journal.

The glossary page is to be filled in as soon as your child comes across a word or phrase he does not understand. The definition is to be placed next to the word using the definition that is most fitting for the context in the letter.

The history page & writing : The aspects of history with which he was most impressed during the study can then be written and formed into a small history study (When did the author live? What was happening in the world and the world around the author at that time? What effects do you think this would have had on his writing to his brother?) and a creative writing essay. Pages are available in the back for recording thoughts.

On the character study & application page your son may list the character quality with which he was most impressed during the study. He may then search the scriptures, writing and memorizing one or more applicable scriptures well suited to inspire him to walk in godliness. Asking his Lord in prayer for diligence and joy in applying His Word.

Publisher: Fortunately For You Books

This last and final installment of the Remember Me Pockets is as wonderful as they have always been. This month long file is filled with specifically designed paper work for students who do not like traditional paper work. Fortunately For You Books offers alternative worksheets to help this holiday month be filled with learning but taking the stress out of the planned schedule. Just check the calendar to see what we are learning about that day!
Included in this file you will find some famous author's biographies (Emily Dickinson, Cornelia Funke, Rudyard Kipling) and honorable mentions (D'Lacey, Porter[Pollyanna], and Gruelle[Raggedy Ann]).
Our reporters give their last interviews of the year with people who should be remembered for their great contribution to our world or for helping us learn how poor decisions affect your life and others. Interviewed are:Marie Tussaud,
George Custer, Walt Disney, Mary Todd Lincoln, Beethoven, Ladybird Johnson, Louis Pasteur, and Tiger Woods. What a great group to have met and gleaned life's lessons from!
Monthly and week long activities are provided for National BINGO month (can we say YEAH!!)and Cookie Cutter Week.
History takes front and center place in our daily activites. National Remembrance of Pearl Harbor uses and internet based activity to learn about the timeframe of this horrific day. The loss of American lives leaves the learner with a love and respect for our military. The Boston Tea Party is an important subject covered this month. Students have no doubt heard about modern tea parties and it is important to give a clear understanding of where in history this has happened before. We provide you with a very good lesson for students who learn best with a quick summation and a visual connection.
And if that was not enough, The Lousiana Territory Purchase was finalized in December. We have used the AT YOUR SEAT format for this file. If you haven't tried this format yet, this is a good time to put it in the day's workboxes. We are pretty sure there will be a recollection of facts at the dinner table that night by using this style of worksheet.
Alabama and Texas became ratified states in December along with many others, but these popular lapbooks are included in the Remember Me December file. Others can be purchased separately to build your collection.
Shaking Up History is a fun way to acknowledge the many other recognitions that wouldn't fit into a month's lessons. Kids like this activity as it gives a quick overview of things that happened that month.
The holidays provide an abundance of activities. We start with Hanukkah and learn how this important Jewish holiday is celebrated. We also have a sweet little collection of Christmas files that are included. Puzzles, gift cards, and tic tac toe complete the month.
We hope you add this month's POCKETS to your collection and that your non classical learners have benefited from these pockets. We had a blast making them and we have learned so much ourselves.
Many blessings and Happy New Year!
