Cells Clueless Crosswords
by Kelly P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/29/2015 12:08:44

What a fun way to review your cell information! The preview shows the squares being very small, but in the actual product, the squares are large enough for the student to write in. It is always good to learn a subject "backwards" - in this case, you are given the word and need to find the meaning. The crosswords are organized by type of cell, as well.

Farmer Boy A Workbook and Discussion Guide
by Vickie B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/10/2013 09:27:08

Farmer Boy Discussion Guide is awesome! It is perfect for boys and girls who love that time period. There were activities and discussion questions I would not have thought of on my own. I highly recommend all the Little House guides if you're reading through the Laura Ingalls Wilder books!

Vocabulary for Third Grade
by Meghan F. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/25/2012 11:53:32

I am giving this rating based on it's usefulness for third grade.

I consider my daughter to have an incredible vocabulary for an 8 year old. She regularly uses 50 cent words in context and correctly. I have never dumbed down my vocabulary for my kids, and it shows.

However, this unit seems to use words that adults I know wouldn't be able to define. For example, "lucious," and "hatchment", just to name two. The alphabetizing and dictionary guideword exercises seem extreme, with complex words to teach basic concepts. Ditto on the synonym/antonym portions.

These lessons are decent, but I just don't feel they are on grade level for my third grader, and I think my fifth grader might even struggle here. They just look/read a bit too much like high school level material, missing the components that might make it fun, and with too much reliance on obscure forms of words my children will never have been (and might never be) exposed to in real life.
